WELCOME TO INTERSOFT SOLUTIONS NEWSLETTER MARCH 2011 EDITION

EDITORIAL – ROAD TO WEBUI STUDIO 2011
Jemmy Haryono, Vice President of Marketing

Few weeks to the final RTM is always the busiest time at Intersoft, be it development, QA, documentation, marketing, and sales, especially in the first volume of 2011 release. And I am here to share some insight on what to expect on the new Web UI Studio.
New in the ASP.NET lineup is WebCombo 5. The new version comes with powerful client binding technology, technically similar to the WebGrid implementation. It delivers three times faster performance on our initial testing. Read more below.
Under the Silverlight and WPF hood, the brand-new data grid, tree view, and scheduler are three of the key highlights among many other new UI controls. The data grid has gone through extensive development and available in several public preview releases. You can read more here. Unlike other tree view controls, UXTreeView focuses on both performance and user experience. It comes with great features like full MVVM support, load-on-demand, node searching, three-state checkbox, and more. Read more below.

WEBUI STUDIO 2011 FOR SILVERLIGHT HIGHLIGHT.

The theme on the 2011 Silverlight package is data visualization and we have prepared a wide array of controls, ranging from a grid view, tree view, to a XPS document viewer.
UXGridView is extensively built to handle the most intensive data processing. It's fully equipped with high-performance features, such as server-side paging and filtering, rich data editing with validation, batch data update, aggregates, and more. And the best thing is that each feature is thoroughly designed to work best with MVVM development pattern. It also runs on both Silverlight and WPF with identical markup.
When you have millions of rows, it is a common sense to display only a chunk of it, 20 rows for example, for the best performance. But it is the opposite when user wants to export the data. All data need to be fetched for the exporting to work appropriately. Find out how the QueryDescriptor solves this challenge elegantly and adds full MVVM support for data exporting.
UXTreeView delivers many powerful and exciting features unrivaled by many competitors. Leveraging the best practice in MVVM design pattern, UXTreeView enables you to bind the selected or checked items directly to your data entity. It also features three-state check box, node search based on keystroke, load-on-demand, node editing, drag-drop, template customization, and many more.
Business users demand rich document viewing experiences built right into the Silverlight/WPF applications. That is how we envisioned the new XPS document viewer control. Built upon the loosely-coupled UI architecture, it offers a host of rich features such as document outline, thumbnail navigation, search, text highlighting with copy feature, and more. And best of all, it also supports printing with built-in document pagination.

WEBUI STUDIO 2011 FOR WPF HIGHLIGHT.

WPF developers will be pleased with the new navigation pane and resizable pane controls; both versatilely integrate to your existing business applications. Make the most of the available screen estate and take full advantage of the resizing infrastructure to creatively design the layout. Resizable pane provides various unique features like fluid content adjustment, one-click expand collapse, and more.
With a wealth of innovative features, ClientUI's navigation pane delivers rich user experiences similar to Outlook 2010. Users can collapse the entire navigation pane, leaving a few pixels out. Click on the large bar to reveal its content, floating on top of your application. Click here to read more.
Drag and drop is an essential user experience feature in most desktop-based applications. ClientUI translates this need by providing a powerful drag-drop architecture. The latest advancement adds cross window drag-drop capability. This means that you can now drag an object from one window and drop it on the others.
ClientUI's versatile drag-drop framework is complemented with rich visual effects. For examples, when you drag an object and move it to a valid drop zone, the nearby target container will automatically open up an empty space to indicate that the drop operation is allowed. In overall, the fluid drag-drop capability makes your business applications more intuitive, and easier-to-use.

WEBUI STUDIO 2011 FOR ASP.NET HIGHLIGHT.

In the past releases, we have been pushing our Silverlight lineups hard, positioning it as the most comprehensive toolkit in the market, in both quality and quantity-wise. But that doesn't mean we neglect the ASP.NET development.
Introducing WebCombo 5 with native client binding technology, you can now easily retrieve data from web-based services such as Web or WCF services. Similar to the implementation in WebGrid, client binding mode transfers raw JSON data to the client-side instead of HTML markups, reducing the transmitted data footprint by over 90%. In addition, the data processing is done entirely in the client-side without any dependencies to the server which improves the application's performance in overall.
The new 2011 release will also include an enhanced version of our flagship WebGrid Enterprise. It now includes full support for WCF data services and simplifies the data retrieval through an improved WebGrid LINQ data provider. Learn more about the new features of both WebCombo and WebGrid here.
Last but not least, the upcoming release will also include full support for the latest browsers such as Internet Explorer 9 and Firefox 4, including the support for compatibility mode as well as the new IE9 "edge" standards mode.
