Same-day iOS 7.1 and Google Wear Support

Building upon our track record of same-day support for device operation system releases, Xamarin released support for both iOS 7.1 and Google's developer preview of Android Wear. iOS 7.1 introduces Apple CarPlay and other external media player enhancements. The Android Wear SDK allows you to run the Android Wear platform in the Android emulator, connect your Android device to the emulator and view notifications from the device as cards on Android Wear, and leverage new APIs in the preview support library that enhance your app's notifications with features such as voice replies and notification pages.

Xamarin Invades Channel 9

Xamarin invades Channel 9Xamarin developer evangelist, James Montemagno, recently kicked off a four part series on Visual Studio Toolbox, a show focused on getting the most out of Visual Studio. Part 1 focused on an introduction to Xamarin and how to get started with iOS and Android development in Visual Studio. Part 2 takes it a step further to highlight how to leverage portable class libraries (PCL) to create a single assembly that is shared on all platforms. Part 3 delves into cloud-connected mobile experiences. These are a great resource for those new to Xamarin or new to PCL. Stay tuned for the final episode which will air soon.
